Broom Huggers bought a car! Yes, you read that right. We just purchased a 2004 Chevy Aveo, and we love it! We’re going to build our very own fleet of vehicles for our cleaning teams to use. Why? Simple. Until now we’ve been relying on our employees to provide their own vehicles and besides the hassle of canceled appointments because of car problems, we’ve also been paying too much for gas and poluting the environment with high emission on old, gas guzzling cars. One team was driving a Nissan Pathfinder, another had a late model minivan - not really suitable to the company’s goal of being friendly to the environment.
As for the Aveo with manual transmission (what we have), Yahoo gives it a green rating of 71 - not too shabby when you consider that the top rating for any gasoline-powered car is 74. According to ACEE’s Green Book, it’s one of the greenest in its class. According to the Department of Energy and the EPA’s Fuel Economy website, the Aveo’s carbon footprint is 6.8 - right in the middle of its class.
So, we may have added a car payment and insurance payment, as well as maintenance costs, but we’ll be spending a whole lot less on gas, we’ll feel better about ourselves, and our car will now be one of our advertising tools!
