Ridding your kitchen of plastics?

April 24, 2008 | Organizing, Food & drink, Being Green

With the worries about the potential danger of plastics on the rise I’ve decided to eliminate a lot of my plastic containers from my kitchen. You know, the ones you use for EVERYTHING! That left me with a big empty cabinet and nothing to put our left overs in. I needed an idea quick, and a thrifty one at that since I can’t afford to go out and buy all glass storage containers! Here is what I came up with… (more…)

Photobucket

That is pretty much how I am feeling these days. Gas prices have gotten outrageous all over the world and sometimes I feel like there isn’t anything I can do about it. Or is there? (more…)

April 17, 2008 | Being Green, Lifestyle

Did you know that Americans spend more on trash bags than the next 7 highly developed nations spend on, well, everything? Or that the US spends more on trash bags than the gross national product of 90 of the nations in the world? (more…)

Gearing Up For Earth Day!

April 15, 2008 | Company news, Being Green

With Earth Day being just one week away I’m seeing a lot of people taking interest in what we can do to take better care of where we live. I’m not just talking about taking better care of the planet but people are really looking into the products we use in our homes, offices, daycares, etc. and the long term effects they have on us.

Do you have a great Earth Day inspired tip? Share it with us by leaving a comment…

The battle against bugs!

April 7, 2008 | Outdoors, Being Green

Even the mere thought of a mosquito bite makes my skin itch! I haven’t stopped scratching since I sat down!

When somebody wrote in asking about natural insect repellents for their children it made me realize that I had no idea what I would be using as a bug repellent for MY OWN kid! The pursuit of a safe and natural repellent began! (more…)

WFMW: Disposing of kitchen grease

March 26, 2008 | Kitchen, Being Green, Cleaning tips

I can’t take credit for this one. I pulled it straight out of National Geographic’s Green Guide this week. Call me lazy, but that’s what happens when you’re 38.5 weeks pregnant…

The question was, what’s the best way to dispose of bacon or other kitchen grease? Raleigh, NC has had a serious problem with sewage backups, due in large part to people pouring grease (more…)

I’m gonna save me some moola!

February 28, 2008 | Broom Hugged, Being Green, Shopping

Just when I was about to spend $15 a pop on 4 Foogo sippies for my kids, I came across this awesome post at The Soft Landing (another Co-Op America member). They’ve done their research, and it turns out that Nuby sippies, bottles, teethers, and spoons are BPA-free! This is great news because (a) I already have a few of them and don’t need to chuck them and (b) they’re CHEAP! I can buy them at WalMart for a couple bucks. (more…)
